Cooling and Warming Sites
Cooling Sites
Cooling sites offer the general public air-conditioned relief and cool water during the hottest part of the day. Sites will be activated if an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.
Heat Advisory - Heat Index is expected to reach 105º F or air temperature reaches at least 100º F.
Heat Warning - Heat Index is expected to reach at least 110º F for 2 consecutive days with a minimum Heat Index no lower than 75º F at night, or if Heat Advisory is expected to last 4 or more days.
Warming Sites
Warming sites agree to open their doors for individuals to seek shelter from excessive cold conditions during the hours listed. Excessive cold indicators are: wind chill expected to be -15 degrees or less, or the stagnant air temperature is 15 degrees or less.
The following Cooling/Warming sites will operate in Belleville in the event that an Excessive Cold or Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service. Watch for the OPEN TODAY sign at participating cooling and warming sites.
