    1. Counselor In Training Program 2026

The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed to give students ages 13-15 (as of June 1, 2026) the opportunity to work in a camp setting. This is a training program which focuses upon gaining the skills necessary to become a camp counselor. Applicants and parents must understand that the CIT program does not exist as a day care program or a reduced camp for teens. Those who are selected as CITs will be treated as camp staff and expected to act as such. CITs that do not follow the staff rules and choose to behave as campers will be immediately dismissed from the program. It is expected that CITs will fill this application out themselves, with assistance from a parent if needed.

PLEASE NOTE: A CIT is NOT guaranteed to be hired as a counselor after completing the CIT program.

    2. Application Procedure:

There is an application process for this program. To be eligible for consideration, interested CIT’s must complete the application (see next page) and participate in an interview. Position is not guaranteed until confirmed by the Recreation Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator reserves the right to reject an applicant or limit the number of applicants accepted into the program based on the camp program’s needs.

For 2026, CITs will be assigned to a specific group within Kiddie Camp (Ages 3-5) OR Camp Rec (grades 1-4), which meets Mon-Fri from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Please plan to arrive by 8:45 each morning and you will be dismissed at 4pm each afternoon. CIT’s do not have to commit to all 10 weeks of summer camp, but the weeks they commit to, it is expected that they will be there Mon-Fri 8:45 am-4:00 pm.
