Managed by the University of Illinois Forestry Extension, the Big Tree Register has documented the largest specimen of tree species in the state since 1962!
From the depths of the Shawnee National Forest to backyards of Chicago to the parks of Belleville, the biggest trees in Illinois are branching out! The register inspires generations of big tree hunters who relish the opportunity to find and nominate the next champion tree.
Belleville currently has 4 State Champion trees on public land that you can see for yourself!
